Don't forget to Save changes. Go to Settings , Labels. Do the same for the Starred label. Open Mail. Go to Mail , Preferences , and choose the Accounts tab. Fill in your name, full email address username domain. Mail will try to autodiscover your settings, but won't be able to do it, so it will ask for your email account configuration in the Incoming Mail Server dialog: In Account type choose IMAP. In Description write a name for your email account.

This can be your email address. In Incoming mail server type imap.
In Username type again your full email address username domain. Type your Gmail Password. Expand the list. If you see another folder in there with a name similar to "sent", it may be that your missing emails are there. Similarly for trash, junk, and drafts.
I know this is a late response, but I've just noticed a similar problem. It looks like the iPhone mail app and Mail. The iPhone is storing sent messages in a folder "Sent" on the server but Mail. Maybe this helps, I don't own an iPhone. Listen now.

Active 7 years, 3 months ago. Viewed 34k times. When I send mail from my iPhone, it shows up fine in my Sent folder on my iPhone However, mail sent from my phone does NOT show up in my Sent folder on my Mac, nor does mail sent from my Mac show up in my sent folder for my phone.
Here are my settings for both: Mac Mail Host: imap. So what gives?
How can I see my Sent mail on my other devices? Sure, but what about my concern regarding sent emails showing up in the inbox?

Another problem is that Gmail will remember every single time it wanted to upload something. If you are composing an email of 8 megabytes for example, and that let us say for 10 minutes, Gmail will remember to upload your message 10 to 20 times. And it will continue to upload until it has done ALL of its work, even when you quit and relaunch Mail. Unfortunately Gmail doesn't let you switch off this autosave behavior. For more information of how to prevent this I responded here in this discussion:.
