Now you can send Bformat tracks from Qlab through Reaper and the decoder then out to an 8 channel speaker set up via the Motu. The way I use this set up I also have stereo files to send from Qlab. I set up other source tracks in Reaper for these, and use ambisonic panners on these tracks in order to place them in the ambisonic speaker array. Each direction uses a different pair of outputs from Qlab. So you can set up as many source tracks in Reaper as you like, each using a different pair of outputs and panned to a different area of the sound sphere, then just set the outputs accordingly for each individual cue in Qlab.

Ask me if you want me to explain how to do this - but it should be pretty clear if you understand what I've written above explaining the Bformat track set up. So far I've had no latency issues or time delays - it works perfectly. I mix the Bformat cues for big textures in the space in Reaper, then render them. Then I can fire big Bformat soundscapes from Qlab, and also place mono and stereo cues inside these soundscapes at will in any position I want.
