You would buy Office directly from the Microsoft site where they have it available for download. The price at the Microsoft store is full price. You can buy retail at a lower price and use the CK key to activate the trial.
Microsoft offering Office 2008 free trial for Mac users
Office has different requirements than previous versions. In the past you could use 1 CD key to install on one desktop and one laptop. Now it only installs on one computer. You have to buy a pack for the number of installs you need.

Microsoft has taken down all previous and current download servers msft-dnl. For Office , we were able to find an alternative legitimate download channel.
When starting the installation, you will be provided the choice whether to install the full version of Office using a product key, or to install a trial edition.
