Video output images are ghostlike white with black outline and occasional splashes of red colour. All play fine on windows with vlc and on other machines. New to MAC.

You could also just open Preferences and click Reset All to start over with clean preferences. Have tried a full reset and a clean install but results show no change. There don't seem to be any video effects active Last edited by kdean on 16 Jun , edited 1 time in total.
Computer built-in Video Editor
Reason: Added image embed. After the reset, did you restart VLC just in case.
Some settings sometimes don't take effect until after a restart of VLC. Seems odd that you're somehow locked into a video effect. Quit VLC.
