Find out what you can do. Yeah not that simple unfortunately. If my PCIe cable ever arrives I'll just order some card and see how it works.
My spouse wants a new video card anyway so if it won't work in the Mac Pro I can just give it to them. Naturally, right as the Mac Pro finally starts shipping to people with the long awaited GT card in it Oh yes, and to add something to the conversation, I believe the GT is actually a lower-performing card than the GT. I would still rather have the GT albeit more expensive.

I wonder what the GT will bring though Anyone know if a gtx OC mb vram version will work on the mac pro with the k rom flashed?? I just saw one half price at a local compusa and they still have 2 left. The GT is a newer core G It's not likely to work with a forced flashing, as it's not the same card or same core. I wouldn't try it myself, but if you want to go for it, please let us know how that works. Comes up as a VGA device.

IOW, comes up the same as the retail GT cards. Has it been announced officially? I spoke with Apple last week. They said a version compatible with the original MacPro's in coming from NVidia. They didn't know when for sure. Hello, ? Isn't one of the reasons we pay for them is to have upgrade options as our pro needs change? To think that I would have to toss my Quad 3. I'll believe it when I see a card available.
Me too! Shouldn't any card that Apple sells and works under bootcamp work just like a regular PC card even with a regular PC.

They have been reaching users since late last week I think. The requisite unboxing photos are showing up here and there. There is a thread over at MR. The card is still incompatible with old mac pros, according to the applestore. Posted: Sun Feb 17, pm. Originally posted by boots: quote:. Originally posted by MrNSX: quote:. Other than that, if you read up reviews what manufacturers call the GT is very much hardware that is very close to the GT. The GPU architecture, stream processors, etc, are very very similar to the GT if not exactly the same.

In other words, your performance benefit may be very, very minimal. But of course flashing that to work with the Mac Pro is probably quite difficult. Quote: Originally Posted by Prism I was wondering this myself too.
