Remove all the boot devices - set them to off - leave just the hdd and see if the system boots. B all means, do not use Chckdsk or any other HDD repair tool on the disk if it contains important data! Your data could be ruined once and for good, even if the drive survives.
If you need data from this disk, either take it out and slave it to another computer there are also USB enclosures available at hardware sellers' , or boot the computer off the Parted Magic live CD: PuterCare Commented: As said above if it contains important data back this up before you do anything else! This may point out a fault on your HDD.

If such is found then it would be wise to backup the data, purchase a new HDD and reinstall windows onto it then copy your data back on. Let's get back to the core problem: Before author can do anything disk related - the disk must be seen by the bios and a boot must be established!
Connected to my pc via usb ports are 1. Not sure what to call it but it's like an extension cord for a usb port. I plug into it my flash drive, ipod , etc. The enclosure's power was turned off when my boot problems happen and nothing is plugged into my usb "extenstion".
I disconnected both devices from my pc's usb ports and the pc booted up normally I shut it down and turned it back on with success. When the enclosure is turned off and nothing is plugged into the usb extension why would the computer not boot up properly? Thanks again for all your responses! If that works fine, tunr off you rmachine connect the other drive and boot. If that also works fine problem solved - if not drop a message and we will look into a new problem: It booted up normally. I shut it down and it booted normally again. Left it on all day while at work.
Came home. I plugged in my usb extension no device plugged in at other end.
I shut pc down and re-started. It booted up but took longer I shut it down for the night. Disk Read Error, enter system disk then press enter". I press Alt-Ctl-Del and get same message. I shut it down and turn it back on.. I shut it down. This fixed the problem. Windows gave me a message saying it loaded the drivers for the W Digital HD and asked me to restart I just don't know for how long this fix will last. I will leave on all day today and see how things go this evening. OK, in case this happens again: You hard drive is about to expire; be sure to backup all data, create an image of the partitions on your disk and keep it updated.

This could be a short due extreme dust build-up with nicotine , something else that created a short, a damaged pin in the socket - henceforth anything else. I haven't turned off my pc since my last posting Bit I did download a utility off W.
Digital website called Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. It passed the quick test but an hour into the Extended Test it stopped saying "Too many bad sectors". I guess this answers my question I showed only GB where my HD is ? I'm confused.

I'm trying to create Recovery Disks off the Recovery partition D. And I have formatted both beforehand. My device manager says I have this drive.. I am confused. Usually they only need formatting if you are using the "packet writing" mode. I tried a CD-R and it worked I did not format it. I was able to download and burn an iso file so now I at least have a Vista installation CD. I just have to just save and exit. I make sure the only boot device enabled is the HD. Sometime it boots up at a normal rate. Other times that it takes from 2 to 10 minutes. I have ordered a new HD. Hopefully this will be the end of my troubles.
