Replace Your Mac's Trash Icon With A Trashcan Mac Pro [How-To] | Cult of Mac
This is the iOS 11 forum, so every question should be assumed to be about iOS I'm not trying to be mean, I'm not trying to make rules, everybody has a right to post anything that meets the forum rules, it's great that people try to be helpful, but I do think that when you are posting in an iOS 11 forum you should be posting an iOS 11 solution; if not, prefacing that you don't use iOS 11, this is how I do it on iOS 10, maybe that will be helpful.
My 2 cents.

- #1 Make Sure the File was Actually Deleted;
The Trash basket shows you that it has files waiting for you there. As in real life, your unemptied Trash is full of crumpled papers. A Finder window called Trash opens and display any files it contains. This technique has the added benefit of also transporting the files or folders you select from the Trash back into the folder from which they came.
How to Recover Deleted Files After Emptying the Trash on Mac
Or if the Trash window is open, you see an Empty button just below its toolbar on the right. Clicking the button also empties the Trash. One thing you will notice about the Trash icon on your desktop is it looks like a normal folder. It is because it has been assigned the default folder icon by defaul.
It is just for appearance and does not interfere in the working of the Trash icon on you desktop. Now that the Trash is available on your desktop, you can drag any files you wish to delete and drop them onto the Trash icon on your desktop, and they will be removed from your Mac. It is exactly the same Trash you see in your Dock with the only difference being it is on your desktop.
Accidentally deleted trash bin from dock!
If, for any reason, you would like to remove the icon from your desktop, then you can do so by dragging and dropping the icon onto the actual Trash located in your Dock. If you have been wanting Trash to appear on your desktop as it does on Windows computers, you now have a way to do that on your Mac without requiring any apps.
Just a single command, and the Trash will be added to your desktop. Now if you tell me how to set it up so I can see the Trash folder in Mail Mac that would be really handy. Skip to content.
