Peng, back to the Mac. There are tons of options, I need a Cuda enabled Card with hacking in, changing Bios, not able to see start up screen etc. But the cards which really work for the Mac are very few. I found a newer card which is the Nvidia GTX And it seems that Mountain Lion supports them with drivers.

Mountain Lion As far as I know, my 3. What confusions! Ha, what a choice! Been searching for a card for long time! Really love the simplicity of Windows! Robert Hancock Ringo Bingo Posts: It will work fine in the 3,1 and 4,1 models too. Not cheap though.

EVGA announces a GTX 680 Mac Edition

Of course, since most solutions use PC cards, there is no efi boot screen but once it gets to the desktop all is well. For the Mercury engine in Adobe, you will need to edit a file so Adobe recognises it as an approved card but it is a trivial thing. Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it?

That's what it's like to be a slave. Thanks Robert! All very tricky. I checked amazon. And it does not say anything about for Mac. Even Kakaku does not show a price. And I am confused about PCIe 2. And looking at amazon. And a GTX for 19,Y, but none say for which platform. Where will I see that? Hi Dorian. However, it boots fine in any 3,1, 4,1 and 5,1 Mac Pro running There is a Mac efi rom that can be flashed using nvflash from a dos boot stick to the GTX to give you the Apple efi screen if you really want it.

But most people don't bother. If you go this route make sure to have a backup of the card PC rom before you flash it to the new mac efi rom in case things go wrong!

I'd like to know if it's going to work, without flashing etc. There is a lot in the thread I pointed out, and in other threads there as well. And you will at times miss the boot screen to get into Recovery or alternate boot drives at times. And it can be with the link speed being 2. You'll have to hack the cuda and openCL but its very easy process in 5 minutes i got all set up. As i didn't flash it hacked ecc. I really don't know if it's worth buying the 4gb version but the 2gb version gave my 6 years old mac pro some years more. You manually add the name of your card in an hidden text file so that it will appear in After effects and Premiere.

Maybe I'll be able to turn on my Mercury after I install my new card. Got one order from OWC, 2 day wait atm. What I want to see is a GPU that offers native support for 2x mini-display port Thunderbolt style without the need to use adapters, that can natively support the Apple Display Not the fastest card out there, but it works a treat for the cinema displays. I just spent a few days with this card, and unfortunately, I am sending it back. The GTX requires I did a few tests with the GTX before re-boxing it.

I get 50fps doing the same thing with my Quadro I was expecting a much more significant speed boost. I run the GUI monitor on a separate graphics card. How'd you test it if it needs Mountain Lion, but you're running Lion? I installed mountain lion on a secondary boot drive to test with.

I didn't realize the conflict with the QIO reader until I tried to install it. Well Waterman, it's a start at least. Thanks for posting. Did you do any playback tests in Premiere Pro? Well I got my GTX and am braining storming what tests to do. I can't find any out online yet. I only care about CS6 smooth playback resolution.

Any suggestion welcome. It's probably not going to speed up your playback in Premiere a whole lot, but it should offer more stable performance on GPU-accelerated FX, transitions, transformations like scaling and rotation. It's obvious that they help, but R3D's are still bottlenecked by the decode process and that is entirely dependent on your CPU s and Rocket if available. If you're using Resolve, you should see a pretty big and noticeable boost there.

Yeah, Resolve will be a nice addition.
