I am running an iMac, and every time I try to delete my bulk mail, I get the message "The connection to the server imap4-rr. Posted 06 March - PM. The connection to the server iamp4-rr. Posted 10 March - PM. Here's a temp workaround until they get the problem fixed. It won't be as fast as the imap, but it will work as a temp work around until the imap gets fixed.
This seems to be an issue with Mac mail. I had the same problem. However, when I went directly to Yahoo mail from Safari, I was able to delete all the trash and bulk emails.

In both cases I used Apple Mail. And 8 out of 10 times emails are sent normally. My colleague uses Thunderbird and she never has problems connecting. With the same number of email accounts setup. It seems to be Mail 4. Is this perhaps a Apple Mail bug?

Which can be fixed? Different connection on both ends? Also, since you are using a different client, then some things will be different. There are so many factors. Fact is though that all Apple Mail users at work are having this problem where we periodically get this popup.
Other Apple Mail users have it on its standard 5 minutes. Does it matter that I have 6 email accounts setup in Apple Mail? Can I send you this log? Perhaps you can see what could be happining.
Have to try it Monday. Would that work better? I can understand it when port 25 would be blocked by our office internet setup.

Is that possible and why? I am having the same intermittent problem and it has nothing to do with settings. I have been using Mac Mail for a very long time for work too. But all of a sudden when i try and send a message its says. I only have 3 choices and none of them work please help. If you use iCloud email me. If this case your email client, Mail, is trying to connect to the server located at smtp. It could be a temporary problem. Wait and try again later. Your setting may be outdated and they can walk you through that.
Or, they may be having a serious problem.
