I thought that if I did this it would simply lift everything as long as I had highlighted the correct mailbox account on the left hand side but the first time I tried I only got a partial copy. Step 2 — Disconnect your Hotmail account from iCloud. This step only applies if you have used your Hotmail account as your Apple id. If you are unsure then try this next bit anyway as the system will tell you whether you are linked or not. Click on the minus sign to remove the account and if you are linked you will see a pop up dialogue box.

Follow the link to preferences and then unlink your email from iCloud. It will offer you the choice of keeping the data on your Mac or deleting it as you go; the choice is yours but I chose to delete everything. Step 3 — Add a new email account onto your Mac Mail. Now just add your Hotmail back in. When it does this you will see straight away that is defaults to IMAP and the settings it uses are those on the Apple Mail Settings lookup. When it has finished it will probably bring in the last couple of weeks of emails from your Hotmail account and you will now have a fully functioning Hotmail account back on your Mac.

Choose the file from your desktop or wherever you saved it and OK that. You now have a working Hotmail account on your Mac and all your old emails available when you need them. Silverlight crashes in hotmail

How to solve the problem of Hotmail not working on a Mac 12th August Hotmail stopped working on your Mac? The things to remember are as follows; If you have a Hotmail account, Microsoft have migrated it to Live Mail now. Nothing else has changed on my Mac, I have not installed any new software, the only thing that changed is something within FF. What is going on?

How to Access Windows Live Hotmail with Mac OS X Mail

The newer FF browsers all have to be babied. I live in fear when having more than one window or tab open, lest FF start to hang, the spinning beach ball goes round and round, and I end up losing everything I was working on, because upon a restart, FF is having trouble recovering my tabs.

Start a new session, again! Now where was I before this happened? I don't have time for this nonsense! I even spent half a day with Apple Technical Support to see if there was some internal problem with my Mac that was causing FF to hang. We did everything under the sun to resolve any potential glitches.

I hoped that when I next opened FF that all would be working smoothly, but alas, no luck.

Again, and again, and again. What you are describing points to an issue on your computer; perhaps in your FF profile. Create a new temporary profile. See if the hangs still occur. To go back to your old or default profile simply quit and restart FF from the profile manager and select your default profile. FF Posted Sep Sun 11th pm Greetings Robert, and thank you for your assistance. I was unable to execute your instructions above.

When I opened Terminal, there was some information typed into the box already regarding my last log in. I tried to delete the contents but couldn't. So I pasted your input in after the small gray rectangle, hit return, FF launched and opened with a new web page. There was no box as you indicated, in which to choose a new user profile. I do a lot of work in my Hotmail email, and that seems to be where the hanging problem always originates from. I recall seeing posts from other users who experienced the same thing with FF and Hotmail.

The more I think of it, this entire episode could be a glitch between FF and Hotmail, which is still not resolved. I can't find it now, but I remember seeing a reply from either FF or Hotmail several months ago, saying that the hanging issue is a known issue, and that FF or Hotmail was working on it.

Perhaps that is where the problem exists? Becoff Guest. Posted Sep Tue 13th pm The exact same thing has been happening to me ever since upgrading to FF 6.

Mac Outgoing Mail Problems

It also happened in 6. I also have a Mac OS I am about ready to give up on FF.

How to Delete/Remove Email Account from Mac’s Mail App

I have been using it for years and never had a problem previously. Posted Sep Tue 13th pm So glad to hear it is not just me. I too have used FF exclusively with no issues whatsoever, till the last few months. I do not want to learn a new browser at this point, but if this keeps up I will have no other choice. When FF hangs, it is affecting everything else that is open on my desktop too, whether it is Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, pdfs in Preview, etc.

It has gotten to the point that I cannot run FF for more than hours without it bogging down, and causing slowness with all the other open applications. I am continually forced to shut FF down. Slowly but surely, it starts to slow down on me, the spinning beach ball starts to appear here and there, till it becomes constant and totally unresponsive, and I have to Force Quit FF. It has gotten so bad that I am constantly using the copy all command to save my work to the clipboard, because I live in fear that I will inevitably lose my work!

The beach ball arrived once, then twice while I was typing; on the third time it struck out-permanent hang. Had to force quit and rewrite my response to you! FF I got your new browser because you promised me faster speed. I thought the hanging issue I had been experiencing before was due to the prior version 3. Please help me; I otherwise love FF! I presume there is a glitch between FF and Mac I do believe the issue is compounded radically if more than one window is open in FF, with multiple tabs.

If I am just working on one email, and have only one window open with a couple tabs at most, I get more working time out of FF before the Big Hang comes. Thank you. How much RAM does your Mac have? Did you install any Firefox add-ons? Any anti-virus software running? Do you clear the download history from time to time?

Did you ever try to accede to Hotmail with Safari and did the same "hang" or spinning beach ball problem occur? You should be able to accede to the Profile Manager!! I do not have an Anti-Virus program.

I cleared the entire history just now, although I do the cache and cookies often. Safari browser works perfect with no stalls or hangs, no matter what I am working on. FF hangs when I am working with various open webpages, not just Hotmail. FF used to perform perfectly under these same conditions. I have made no changes to my Mac, and have not downloaded any new applications or software, except for FF 6.

I will see if clearing the contents of the entire history makes a difference. If not, I will attempt to create a new user profile per the Terminal suggestion again, and report back. I will also open the Activity Monitor as you suggested if a hang occurs and report my findings. If you see anything in my stats that is indicative of a problem, please let me know. Thank you again.

Posted Sep Wed 14th am I am in the same boat with youngjane. I started FF in safe mode and disabled my add-ons and it still hangs. There is no particular web page that makes it happen, it happens on pretty much all of them. It is not connected to hotmail. Safari always works when FF is down. I really do not want to have to switch to Safari but I am running out of options.
