Remote power button mac pro

The problem is that to turn them on , I have to open a door which is in a rather awkward place and do some yoga bending and struggle to find the power button. Surely there must be a way to start them from a keyboard, ipad, laptop.

I know about the scheduled startup but would like a solution that is a little more flexible. I also don't want to but my computers to sleep. Either on or off. Wake on LAN from a laptop on the same network. Or just pull out the power button and fit a longer cable to wherever you want it. It's a very simple push-to-make switch. As always, disconnect the PC from the mains when you're working on it, just to be safe. Set energy saver to restart after power loss.

One thing though, is that after a few days of not shutting down my MacBook Pro it gets a little slow. This gets fixed with a re-start. With what frequency should this be done? Bernie: Never. Well, not never as you sometimes need to restart for an upgrade or to move your desk or something. If your Mac is getting slow, then something is causing it. When I put mt Mac to sleep, it wakes up all by itself after a few minutes and stays awake for a long time when it puts itself back to sleep.

Carl: No. Something is causing it. Could be a piece of software. Could also be a piece of connected hardware by cable or bluetooth. Under energy saver, there are 5 possible boxes to check: Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off, Put hard disks to sleep when possible, Wake for network access, Start automatically after a power failure, and Enable power nap. By default they are all checked except 1st and 4th.

Daved: This is for when you have an external display Mac Pro or Mac Mini, for instance and you want the computer to remain on for remote access. Your Mac will do maintenance when it is asleep or awake, but not when it is turned off. Hello, basically, I keep my mac mini in a drawer.
