It weighs a mere g and measures just x82x26mm, but it's not just the C's size that impresses. The resolution is hardly a revolution, either. At x it's far less than high definition; its maximum x pixel resolution signal is also slightly limiting, but the C was never meant to replace a home cinema projector or even have anything to do with movies. This is a Powerpoint projector, plain and simple. Indeed, it doesn't even have a user interface to speak of. Plugged into the side of a PC laptop — something that unfortunately necessitates using not just two USB slots, but two side-by-side USB slots wince, Ultrabook owners — the C fuels itself and acts as a simple desktop projector.

The cable provided has two USB slots on one end and a proprietary Acer-made figure-of-eight connection on the other. There's also a small fake-felt bag for the C, though it's so snug it's hard to fit the projector inside, and there's no room for the USB cable. It's with its bulb that the C shows its true colours. Besides the C's connector slot is a DC power input, though there's nothing in the box.

That's a shame since the only other way to achieve full brightness is to be sure to use both USB terminals on a laptop, or else the brightness dims. This is an excellent quality projector for what I needed: Something that is very portable and can display high quality photographs and videos, which are generally an important component of my presentations.

Even in a semi-dark room, I was able to enlarge the picture to a very good size, and everyone was able to see it clearly. My one complaint is that the USB cable supplied with the projector was not compatible with Windows 8. I had to do some online research to figure out that it needs an older version USB cable. Once I found an older cable at home, it worked like a charm. So, just be aware of this caveat.

I was looking forward to trying this out after reading the few available online reviews and Acer advertisements with the intention to use for laptop Powerpoint presentations and portable media center camping trips, etc. The standout features are low price and exceptional brightness compared to other pico projectors. Go to Acer support for links to specification sheet and user manual. Seems that Acer conveniently left this out on their spec sheet, but it is clearly stated in their 10 page user manual. I was planning to use a cheap Dell Mini 9 netbook, portable speaker, and portable picoscreen to let the kids watch movies during camping trips.

Forget about that plan the video was choppy and VLC player actually crashed on the netbook which I've never seen before since it turns out that netbooks do not provide enough CPU power to drive video playback on the C and you will need a minimum 2.
